Slovakian multi-service telecoms operator SWAN has relaunched its mobile services nationwide under the name 4ka as part of a previously-announced partnership with Slovenska Posta. The new branding stresses the company’s position as fourth player in the Slovakian 4G mobile network operating sector. SWAN originally switched on its 1800MHz 4G LTE network in March this year, but services were restricted to a data-only offering and coverage was limited to the 50 or so cities where the operator had rolled out its own infrastructure, with no national roaming agreement having been signed with a rival cellco at that time.
The new 4ka service provides both voice and data calls, currently only on a pre-paid basis, with roaming provided by Slovak Telekom outside of SWAN’s own network footprint which now extends to around 40% of the population in 60 cities. All calls – domestic or internationally within the EU – are charged at a flat rate of EUR0.04 per minute, with SMS messages also priced at EUR0.04 per message. SIM cards and airtime top ups can be purchased in any of the country’s 1,500 post offices.
