Sigfox and Nettrotter announce Italian IoT deal

6 Oct 2015

Italian communications tower firm EI Towers has announced that its subsidiary Nettrotter has signed an agreement to provide Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity for France-based IoT specialist Sigfox. The firms say that the new machine-to-machine (M2M) network will be available across Italy, beginning in major cities from early 2016. Carlos Lambarri, Nettrotter’s CEO, commented: ‘Italian IoT customers are keen to adopt new, beneficial technology applications across multiple sectors such as smart cities, health care, manufacturing, construction, transportation and safety and security. The Sigfox network is key to Nettrotter’s plan to install and operate the IoT throughout Italy, because it provides highly scalable connectivity at low cost and very low energy consumption for connected devices.’ Italy is already one of Europe’s biggest IoT markets, with around seven million M2M connections in service.
