29 Sep 2015

British cableco Virgin Media has announced plans to increase the maximum downlink speed available to its subscribers to 200Mbps. Confirming the development in a press release, Virgin Media also revealed a new product branding, with the cableco saying that all of its broadband speeds of 100Mbps or more will be offered using the ‘Vivid’ moniker. In terms of bringing the highest speeds to consumers, Virgin Media will reportedly start contacting subscribers this week to explain how they can opt in to a speed upgrade from 1 October 2015, with the new top-end downlink rates expected to be available to 90% of the cableco’s subscribers by the end of this year.
