Alcatel-Lucent has announced the signing of a frame agreement with Cambodian operator Chuan Wei to expand high speed mobile broadband connectivity across the south-east Asian country. The French-US vendor says that the deployment of its LTE and voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) technologies will allow Chuan Wei to meet the growing demand for data from enterprise customers, while launching new services for consumers. Network deployment will begin in some of the most densely populated cities, including Phnom Penh and parts of the Siem Reap region, and will continue in Poipet, Bavet and other major cities, before completion in mid-2016.
‘We have a strong vision to leapfrog directly to the world’s most efficient communications technology to make universal access to affordable broadband and voice services in Cambodia become true,’ commented Eric Lee, CEO of Chuan Wei, adding: ‘With the complete LTE and VoLTE solutions from Alcatel-Lucent, we believe that the customer experience will be improved and new business opportunities will open.’
Under the frame agreement, Alcatel-Lucent will deploy key LTE and VoLTE technologies, including its LTE-FDD radio access network (RAN), IP Mobile Core and 9500 Microwave Packet Radio, to support high speed data and high definition voice on a single platform.
