German telecoms operator Vodafone Kabel Deutschland has expanded the availability of its 200Mbps cable broadband service to a further 800,000 households, increasing the total number of homes within the high speed footprint to around 5.4 million. The latest areas to gain access to the operator’s 200Mbps/12Mbps down/uplink broadband service include Bautzen, Chemnitz, Hannover, Hof, Merzig, Neumunster, Schleswig, Sonthofen and Winsen. In addition, Vodafone says that around 14.6 million German households are able to access speeds of up to 100Mbps via its cable network. Going forward, the Dusseldorf-based firm is aiming to increase the availability of its 200Mbps cable service to over ten million households by early 2016.
