Hiridjee to rebrand Only Reunion as Free?

18 Sep 2015

Hiridjee Group, the majority owner of Madagascan telecoms operator Telma, is reportedly awaiting the approval of France-based Directorate-General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF) to re-launch its recently acquired unit Only Reunion under the ‘Free’ banner via a licensing agreement with French telco Iliad Group, linfo.re writes.

As previously reported by CommsUpdate, in June 2015 Hiridjee completed the acquisition of Outremer Telecom (Only) mobile operations in the French overseas territories of Reunion and Mayotte from Netherlands-based Altice Group for an enterprise value of EUR80 million (USD91.6 million). Telma/Hiridjee went head-to-head with six other bidders for the assets; other interested parties included the likes of French telco Free (part of the Iliad Group), Jamaica-based Digicel Group and Group Oceinde, which owns Reunion-based fibre provider Zeop.
