TIM Brasil taps Ericsson for small cell solution

2 Sep 2015

TIM Participacoes (TIM Brasil), Brazil’s second largest mobile operator by subscribers, has selected Swedish technology vendor Ericsson to ‘design, optimise and upgrade’ its 3G and 4G networks across the country via the use of small cells. Under the terms of the three-year contract, Ericsson will deploy its Radio Dot System solution, which seeks to ‘remove indoor bottlenecks’ and can be deployed in underserved medium-to-large buildings and venues. In a recent press announcement, TIM stated its objective to expand 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) coverage to more than 52% of the country’s urban population by the end of 2015.
