BICS announces first end-to-end VoLTE call between Asia and Europe

25 Aug 2015

BICS, a global wholesale carrier for voice, mobile data and capacity services, says it has established the first Asia-to-Europe end-to-end voice-over-Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) international call, between South Korean operator SK Telecom (SKT) and Belgian telco Proximus (formerly Belgacom). BICS’ press release claims that its IPX VoLTE Hub enables mobile operators to offer IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) services ‘ubiquitously’, while the company says the 4G mobile technology offers subscribers in the two countries the ability to ‘exchange high definition, low latency, next generation enhanced voice services’. The project has been carried out by BICS in collaboration with SK Telink, the international carrier services division of SKT.
