US telco Windstream has announced that it has achieved several network expansion ‘milestones’, in the wake of its partnership with Infinera which commenced last year. With the deployment of the Infinera Intelligent Transport Network, during 2015 Windstream has expanded into twelve new 100G markets including Buffalo, Denver, Houston, San Antonio, Oklahoma City, and Tulsa; added 3,900 fibre route miles featuring Infinera’s 500G super-channel technology; and deployed a ‘20 Day Express Install’ guarantee for customers leveraging the long-haul core network. By the end of 2015, the operator plans to expand its 100G service to seven additional markets (including Minneapolis and Louisville in September), and to add 5,600 fibre miles to its long-haul core network, providing additional diverse routing options from major cities.
Windstream provides 100G transport services across the US, leveraging its dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) long-haul core network. Carriers, content/over-the-top providers and other network operators utilise Windstream Carrier Solutions to provide fibre-based, high bandwidth transport services to support those companies’ growing traffic demands.
