PT Telkom Indonesia managed to record a profit of IDR7.447 trillion (USD542.9 million) during the first half of 2015, up 2.2% compared to IDR7.286 trillion compared to the same period last year as revenue increased by 12.2% to IDR48.840 trillion. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of IDR23.540 billion was 6.3% higher year-on-year; EBITDA margin of 48.2% was a 2.6% contraction year-on-year. Telkom president Alex J Sinaga said that the group’s cellular business continues to be the ‘backbone’ in terms of growth and revenue, while its data business is showing ‘encouraging growth’. The group’s mobile arm Telkomsel closed out 30 June 2015 with a total of 144.065 million mobile subscribers, up 4.9% on an annualised basis, of which 141.065 million are pre-paid users (up 4.6%). Pre-paid revenue increased by 14.9% y-o-y to IDR30.042 trillion, mainly driven by growth in the pre-paid subscriber base, and accounted for 84.9% of the group’s total revenue. Post-paid revenue increased by 13.5% to IDR2.783 trillion, contributing 7.9% of total revenue. Additionally, Telkom reported a total of 10.190 million fixed telephony lines in service, up 7.0% from 9.521 million in June 2014, while fixed broadband connections rose to 3.729 million (up 15.9%) and Telkomsel Flash (wireless) subscriptions climbed 84.8% to 33.627 million. Telkom also noted the success of its new fixed broadband product, called ‘IndiHome Triple Play’, which bundles high speed internet, IPTV and fixed phone and which counted 427,000 subscribers at end-June.
