29 Jul 2015

Bolivian cellco Viva (Nuevatel PCS) has commercially launched its 4G LTE mobile broadband network in the 1700MHz/2100MHz (AWS) frequency band, offering high speed LTE data access to all subscribers with compatible devices/SIMs without changing their existing packages. TeleSemana reports that Viva’s new range of data plans range from 200MB (costing BOB20 [USD2.8]) to 60GB (BOB500). For pre-paid usage the rates range from BOB1.50 for 11MB per day, up to 550MB per day for BOB10. TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database says that Viva – Bolivia’s third largest mobile operator by subscribers – is the third to join the country’s LTE market behind Entel (launched December 2012) and Tigo (July 2014).
