Hutchison Drei Austria (Drei) has achieved 98% population coverage with its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, up from 85% in May and 70% in March. The cellco’s most recent wave of deployments saw it extend connectivity to all 442 municipalities in the state of Upper Austria. Drei claims that its 4G infrastructure supports downlink transmission speeds of up to 150Mbps.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Hutchison’s Austrian arm launched 4G LTE services in Vienna in November 2011 using frequencies in the 2600MHz band, before rolling out a wider LTE network in Q3 2014 via 1800MHz spectrum.
