South Africa’s Vox Telecom has announced its first significant investment into fibre infrastructure, with the acquisition of Cape Town-based independent internet service provider (ISP) Frogfoot Networks. The move will enable Vox to fast-track its own fibre strategy and leverage Frogfoot’s existing fibre-optic networks.
Frogfoot Networks will operate as a separate entity within Vox’s carrier and connectivity division, providing services to the group’s customers in addition to wholesale services to the market. Shane Chorley, Executive Head of Carrier and Connectivity at Vox, commented: ‘By operating as a separate entity, we are creating and enabling open access play, which we believe is critical for the future of the business’.
