Stockholm-based telecoms group Tele2 has announced its consolidated results for the second quarter of 2015. Net sales amounted to SEK6.61 billion (USD765 million), up from SEK6.34 billion in the year-ago period, driven by mobile end-user service revenue, which grew by 7% to SEK3.32 billion. EBITDA dropped back slightly to SEK1.39 billion, down from SEK1.47 billion in 2Q14, while there was a sharp decline in net profit, which fell 62% to SEK309 million.
The group says it now has 14.34 million subscribers in nine countries in Europe and Asia, having added 540,000 net new users in the three months to 30 June 2015. The total included 12.95 million mobile users, 593,000 fixed broadband customers, and 798,000 fixed telephone accounts. The biggest growth came at Tele2 Kazakhstan, which added 471,000 subscribers in the second quarter, taking its customer total to 4.2 million.
