Moldovan regulator the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) has revealed in a press release that in the first half of 2015 it registered a total of 23 new companies that had sought to enter the electronic communications sector. According to the watchdog, such a development meant that as at 30 June 2015 there were a total of 543 companies that had been entered into the Public Register of Electronic Communications Networks and Service Providers. Of these, it noted that the vast majority have the right to provide both networks and public electronic communications services, with most vendors – 402 – authorised to provide terrestrial networks with fixed access, while 219 suppliers have the right to provide internet access services, and 215 are licensed to provide audiovisual program retransmission services. Of the new licensees, the ANRCETI added that audiovisual program retransmission and internet access were the most requested concession type, with these requested by ten and nine of the new licensees, respectively.
