Tele2 Estonia using 2100MHz for 4G

Tele2 Estonia has announced the launch of 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) services using the 2100MHz band, which has in the past been used predominantly for 3G technology. The firm says the switch to 4G will help make its networks more efficient, while also expanding coverage and capacity. Equipment for the upgrade project is being supplied by Nokia Networks. Tele2 is the smallest of Estonia’s three mobile network operators, with 24.4% of the country’s two million subscribers at the end of March 2015, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database. It launched its first 2600MHz LTE services in November 2012 and began using 800MHz 4G networks in 2014. The cellco says it plans to use multi-carrier technology across all three of its 4G bands to boost peak download speeds to 375Mbps and above.
