Tricom embarks on three-year fibre rollout

Dominican Republic fixed line and mobile operator Tricom has revealed plans to deploy a 2,700km fibre-optic network over the next three years which will pass some 600,000 premises by end-2017. According to a report from Prensario Internacional, the Altice Group subsidiary says it expects to have around 1,000km of infrastructure passing 200,000 households and 1,500 businesses by the end of this year. Rollouts have already begun in areas such as San Francisco de Macoris and Santiago de los Caballeros. Tricom will use the new fibre networks to provide high speed internet, fixed telephony and pay-TV services.
