Indonesia’s XL Axiata has launched a new Multi Carrier VPN Access (MCA) model as it continues to develop its Internet of Things (IoT) business capabilities to address the needs of its corporate customer base. IndoTelko notes that XL’s MCA will be used to facilitate VPN-based private communication network for the business sector, retail, banking, and financial institutions. In a press release marking the launch of the new service, Yessie D Yosetya, XL Axiata head of digital services, said that the move demonstrates XL’s commitment to be the leader in the business of IoT, adding that the MCA offers the same quality of services provided through a comparable leased line, but at a lower cost. The new service has been tested with selected customers, one of which is a leading banking group, which used the facility to test mobile branch and ATM devices in Greater Jakarta and outside the region, he said. To use the new MCA service corporate customers are only required to pay a monthly fee, the executive noted, rather than commit to a much higher level of spend by rolling out their own equipment.
