Indonesian CDMA operator SmartFren Telecom (Smartfren), which recently activated its LTE network operating in the 850MHz/1900MHz band in Batam, Riau Islands, is aiming to expand its coverage to a total of 22 major cities across Indonesia in the second half of this year. As part of the company’s rollout plan – which is being driven by the country’s Broadband Plan 2019 – Smartfren president Merza Fachys says his company is accelerating its LTE deployments ‘evenly throughout Indonesia’ to ensure that both new and existing customers can feel the benefit of advanced mobile services. Supporting its 4G launch, Smartfren is offering five handsets and two MiFi (Mobile WiFi) devices, including Andromax 4G LTE smartphones R, Q, Qi, Ec and Ice, and MiFi devices, Andromax M2P and Andromax M2Y.
