Kyivstar 3G reaches 110 cities/towns; testing in 90

Ukraine’s largest mobile operator by subscribers, Kyivstar, part of the Russian-backed Vimpelcom group, has announced that its commercial 3G UMTS network services have reached 110 cities and towns since launch four weeks ago. Having launched W-CDMA/HSPA+ services in Lviv on 8 June, Kyivstar quickly expanded its UMTS reach to the capital, Kiev, and cities including Odessa, as well as Black Sea resorts and other regions. The latest commercial expansion this week saw network sections switched on in 25 areas in the Kherson, Volin, Mikolayiv and Zakarpatya regions. Kyivstar also announced that 3G testing is ongoing in 90 further cities and towns including Vinnitsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Poltava, Rivne, Ternopyl and Khmelnitsky.
