Telecom Personal of Argentina has extended its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network to ten new cities, namely Resistencia, Corrientes, Posadas, Formosa, Santiago del Estero, La Rioja, Mendoza, Parana, Bariloche and Ushuaia. The latest wave of deployments means that LTE connectivity is available in a total of 18 cities, and Personal now intends to ramp up the coverage it offers in its existing 4G markets. According to Personal, over 600,000 customers already own 4G-compatible devices, noting last month that around 50,000 subscribers were actively using the LTE network.
According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Personal switched on its LTE networks in the cities of Buenos Aires, Cordoba and Rosario on 22 December 2014, with just 84 base transceiver stations in service at launch. Mar del Plata, Pinamar, Salta, Santa Fe and Tucuman were all added to the 4G footprint in subsequent months.
