1800MHz auction called for 29 September

8 Jul 2015

Russia’s Federal Service for Supervision of IT & Communications (Roskomnadzor) has announced on its website an auction for 1800MHz technology-neutral licences suitable for 4G LTE services, with a date set for 29 September 2015. The regulator published the terms and conditions of the auction alongside the announcement. The results of the auction in the paired frequency bands 1710-1785MHz and 1805-1880MHz will be published within ten days of the event. Russian cellcos including MTS and Tele2 have already launched LTE-1800 services in certain regions, and the auction will give access to a wider licence footprint whilst also levelling the playing field by allowing more operators to deploy LTE in the band.
