Multimedia Polska upgrades peak broadband speed to 500Mbps

7 Jul 2015

Polish cable TV operator Multimedia Polska has launched the country’s first commercial 500Mbps internet service, while also adding a new 250Mbps tariff. The cableco is also doubling connection speeds for existing customers at no extra cost, BroadbandTV News reports. The firm now offers six broadband packages, with peak download rates of 12Mbps, 30Mbps, 60Mbps, 120Mbps, 250Mbps and 500Mbps. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Multimedia Polska had 529,000 broadband subscribers and 8.6% of Poland’s high speed internet market at the end of March 2015. Last year rival operator UPC Poland said it was testing 500Mbps technology, though it has not yet announced the launch of a commercial product at that speed.
