Telcel claims 65.5% LTE coverage following Acapulco launch

America Movil (AM)-backed mobile operator Telcel has announced that its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network now boasts coverage of 14,500 Mexican towns and cities, following its launch in Acapulco. The cellco notes that its network footprint is equivalent to population coverage of 65.5%. Cities covered by the network include: Cabo San Lucas, Cancun, Guadalajara, Merida, Mexicali, Oaxaca, Tecate, Tijuana and Veracruz. Telcel claims to have 40 4G-compatible devices, and notes that both pre-paid and post-paid users can access the network for no extra cost.
