Ecuador’s TVCable group will invest USD60 million over the next three years to improve its telecoms service range, reports STNews quoting company president Jorge Schwartz. New upgrades have been made possible by the completion of interconnection to the new Pacific Caribbean Cable System (PCCS) submarine cable network linking Ecuador and the US, Schwartz noted, while stressing that the upgrade programme seeks to improve connection speeds, plus add new streaming services, new high definition content and new applications. The operator has a cable broadband presence in twelve cities in Ecuador. In Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca (where it has a dominant cable TV presence) its networks have been upgraded with DOCSIS 3.1 and packages offer 100Mbps speeds. The current project aims to expand this capability to other cities.
