SEATEL to shut down Excell network on 27 June

25 Jun 2015

South East Asia Telecom Cambodia (SEATEL Cambodia), the local unit of Singapore-registered South East Asia Telecom Group (SEATEL Group), says it will close the CDMA-based network of GT-Tell (Excell) on 27 June 2015. Excell subscribers are able to exchange their existing devices with a free 4G mobile handset or modem and a new SIM card at SEATEL shops in Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville, Siem Reap and Battambong. One of the mobile markets smallest players, Excell and its CDMA2000 1x EV-DO network was acquired by SEATEL in 2013. Earlier this month ZTE Corporation announced it was constructing SEATEL’s national Frequency Division Duplex Long Term Evolution (FDD-LTE) network to deliver high-performance mobile broadband services to consumers and businesses across Cambodia. The Chinese vendor is the exclusive provider of end-to-end 4G solutions and products.
