Cambodian wireless operator Smart Axiata has announced the expansion of its LTE network to all 25 of the country’s provinces, as it responds to surging demand for mobile data services. The Malaysian-owned cellco, which currently has around 7.5 million customers, launched Cambodia’s first 4G LTE services in Phnom Penh in January 2014, before gradually rolling out the network to other main cities, including Battambang, Siem Reap, Kampong Cham, Takhmao and Sihanoukville. ‘Smart is making with this achievement the next logical step in fulfilling its ambition of providing its customers with the latest in mobile technology in the most affordable way,’ commented Thomas Hundt, CEO of Smart Axiata, adding: ‘4G LTE by Smart as the fastest mobile internet in Cambodia gives the users an incredible experience when browsing the web, when watching videos or while listening to music streaming with their mobile devices… With 4G LTE available in all 25 provinces of Cambodia now, Smart is pushing forward in bridging the digital divide as a key mission to achieve.’
