Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel) has announced the launch of its ConnectPlus Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) service, a new cloud-based IP VPN offer open to enterprise users across the Asia-Pacific region, Australia, the US and Europe. Singtel’s new SD-WAN utilises software from Viptela, which it claims ‘enables enterprises to simplify and centralise their network provisioning and policy management, and configure network requirements in real time’. Converge Network Digest cites Singtel Group Enterprise VP Lee Han Kheng as saying: ‘Singtel is empowering enterprises with the capability to adapt and programme their network operations based on their needs. Using a self-service portal, they can exercise dynamic control over network issues such as performance, bandwidth utilisation and security. Singtel ConnectPlus SD-WAN is one of several software-based innovations that we are implementing to help our customers enhance their networks and improve business productivity.’
