Cinven linked with T-2 bid; Telekom Slovenije confirmation expected tomorrow

9 Jun 2015

Local press reports from Slovenia suggest that the UK-based private equity firm Cinven is eyeing another potential takeover in the eastern European country, with its purchase of the government’s majority stake in Telekom Slovenije expected to be officially agreed tomorrow (Wednesday). STA is now linking Cinven as a potential buyer for cellular and broadband operator T-2, which is currently majority owned by Slovenian financial firm Zvon Ena Holding. There had been speculation that Telekom Austria Group could make a move for T-2, but it has been announced this week that the Austrian firm has instead opted to buy rival internet service provider (ISP) Amis. The US investment fund KKR, which owns another local ISP, Telemach, has also been named as a potential buyer for T-2.
