Taiwan’s largest internet service provider (ISP) by subscribers, Chunghwa Telecom, is set to launch G.fast broadband services with downlink speeds of up to 300Mbps in September 2015, DigiTimes writes, citing a statement from the state-backed firm. The operator has been testing the DSL technology with a view to increasing the throughput of its copper-based access network to more closely match the capabilities of its FTTx network, thereby increasing the availability of 300Mbps broadband. Chunghwa’s tests have yielded peak data transfer rates of 500Mbps-1Gbps within 100m of the node, the operator noted.
