NTT Communications (NTT Com), the ICT solutions and international communications business of NTT Corp of Japan, says it aims to have deployed software-defined networking (SDN)-based cloud services in 17 of its global data centres by the end of this year. Fierce Telecom quotes vice president of sales engineering for NTT America, Joe Corvaia, as saying: ‘Our cloud platform is a globally consistent VMware cloud-powered architecture with some customisation and enhancements that’s available in 14 data centres today, with 17 by the end of 2015 … With the implementation of SDN, it does allow customers to dynamically deploy virtual networks in the global Layer 2 and Layer 3 platform and allows us to use application gateways into other assets.’
