MCIT working on spectrum auction plans

4 Jun 2015

Myanmar’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) is developing a new spectrum allocation policy to facilitate the distribution of additional airwaves in the 700MHz, 900MHz and 850MHz bands, Total Telecom writes. ‘We are not using UHF [ultra high frequency] television, so [the] 700MHz frequency is available at this moment in time,’ deputy communications minister U Thaung Tin told press earlier this week. No timeframe was specified, although the official noted that a draft policy on spectrum allocation would be available ‘soon’.
