Orange Group secures Spanish regulatory approval for Jazztel acquisition

27 May 2015

Hot on the heels of the revelation last week that Orange Group’s proposed acquisition of alternative Spanish broadband provider Jazztel had been given the go-ahead by the European Commission (EC), the French company has now been given the nod for the deal by the Spanish authorities. To that end, in a press release confirming the development, the Comision Nacional del Mercado de Valores (CNMV) has confirmed its approval for the deal, which has been valued at EUR3.4 billion (USD3.7 billion).

As previously reported by CommsUpdate, last week the EC announced it would allow Orange’s acquisition of Jazztel, though this approval was conditional upon the full implementation of a number of commitments that it said would ‘ensure effective competition on the fixed internet access services markets after the takeover’.
