HKBN steps up efforts in home telephone market

Fibre triple-play network operator Hong Kong Broadband Network Limited (HKBN) has launched a new offer for its home telephone service, reducing the monthly price to the level of rival fixed line services at HKD38 (USD4.90) per month to stimulate take-up. The offer is open to new customers on a 24-month contract or existing HKBN home telephony customers who refer a new subscriber to the service. Selina Chong, chief marketing officer at HKBN, said: ‘We noticed that a leading fixed line service provider had recently lowered its home telephone service fee to HKD38 for a very limited number of customers living in specified areas. We responded … by offering our high-value home telephone service at HKD38/month to each and every new customer across Hong Kong residing under our fibre network coverage, regardless of their geographical location and type of residence.’
