UMS signs up 423,600 subscribers

Universal Mobile Services (UMS), a joint venture mobile operator owned by the Uzbek government and Russia’s Mobile TeleSystems (MTS), had signed up 423,600 users by end-March 2015, up from 188,100 three months earlier, UzDaily writes. Turnover for the three month period ended 31 March 2015 totalled UZS19.5 billion (USD7.69 million), compared to UZS4.5 billion in Q4 2014. Monthly ARPU for the period was UZS21,027 whilst the average monthly minutes of use (MOU) were down to 356 minutes from 445 minutes in Q4 2014. As noted by TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, UMS relaunched services on 1 December 2014 after being shut down by the state in 2012.
