Orange France launches FTTH network in Saint-Malo

19 May 2015

French telecoms giant Orange has launched its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network in the metropolitan community of Saint-Malo, which is located in Brittany, the seventh largest administrative region of France. Under the first phase of the deployment, the operator has passed 10,524 homes in the districts of La Madeleine, Saint-Servan and La Decouverte, representing one third of all households in the community. The rollout project is wholly funded by Orange.

As reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate in March 2015, Orange plans to triple its investments in fibre-optic networks in its domestic market by 2020 and thus increase the number of connected homes from 3.6 million at the end of 2014 to twelve million in 2018 and 20 million (2022).
