19 May 2015

India’s largest cellco by subscribers, Bharti Airtel, has launched 4G trials for its existing customers in four new cities this week, adding Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad and, most recently, Visakhapatnam, the Economic Times reports. Airtel customers in these cities with 4G-compatible devices have the option to upgrade from 3G to 4G for free. Commenting on the launch of trials in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam, Venkatesh Vijayraghavan, the CEO of Airtel’s Andhra Pradesh and Telangana division was quoted as saying: ‘We want our existing customers to be the first ones to enjoy the Airtel 4G experience and are offering them a free upgrade to Airtel 4G at the same price as 3G. We look forward to our customers’ valuable feedback towards delivering a truly world-class 4G experience for customers in both these cities.’
