Tattelecom re-brands SMARTS-Kazan as Fly Mobile

14 May 2015

Tattelecom, which is located in the Republic of Tatarstan, has announced that it has rebranded its regional mobile subsidiary SMARTS-Kazan as ‘Fly Mobile Communications’, the name previously used by its mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) unit.

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, in July 2013 regional fixed line operator Tattelecom acquired SMARTS-Kazan from Volga-based SMARTS Group for an undisclosed fee. Tattelecom initially entered its local wireless market in April 2012 via an MVNO agreement with SMARTS. It was believed that the takeover of the host operator was implemented as a result of Tattelcom outgrowing its initial 100,000 number allocation.
