Taiwanese multi-service operator Far EasTone has made Ericsson its sole supplier, with the Swedish vendor revealing in a press release that it has been tasked with expanding and optimising the telco’s 4G network.
Under the terms of the collaboration between the two companies, Ericsson has confirmed it will support Far EasTone’s 4G and 5G network strategy, with the updated contract between the two companies covering Long Term Evolution (LTE) network expansion and optimisation projects, including Ericsson Radio Access Network, Evolved Packet Core, voice-over-LTE (VoLTE), Wi-Fi calling and professional services. According to Ericsson, the expanded partnership will lay a solid foundation for Far EasTone to further enhance customer satisfaction and to address the needs from enterprise customers for industry transformation.
Commenting on the deal, Yvonne Li, President of Far EasTone, said: ‘Providing the best LTE network in Taiwan will be an important stepping stone to execute on our long term strategy. Besides telecom services, operators need to accelerate expansion into new areas to develop Internet of Things (IoT) services where much more capable and agile networks become indispensable on the way to develop 4G and evolve to 5G. Through our partnership with Ericsson, we are looking forward to providing advanced mobile experiences and a connected future for our users.’
