The government of Vietnam has approved a telecom development master plan which states that preparations to introduce 4G technology will begin in the country later this year, Viet Nam News reports. Earlier this year, Le Nam Thang, deputy Minister of Information and Communications, was quoted as saying that Vietnam will award licences for the provision of LTE services next year, after the ministry has assessed the technology and market demand. In August 2010 the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) awarded one-year LTE test licences to a number of operators, including Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT), Viettel, FPT Telecom, Vietnam Multimedia Corporation (VTC) and CMC Corporation.
