Orange Slovensko adds three new LTE markets

7 May 2015

Slovakian mobile operator Orange Slovensko has added three new locations to its Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, taking 4G coverage to around 32% of the country’s population. Networks are now live in 28 cities and six municipalities, including the three new markets of Dunajska Streda, Lucenec and Michalovce, the cellco says, offering peak theoretical download speeds of up to 150Mbps and uploads at up to 50Mbps. Meanwhile, the firm is also utilising UMTS-900 equipment to cover the remainder of the country with 3G networks capable of speeds of 21Mbps, rising to 42.2Mbps in some areas thanks to DC-HSPA+ technology. The 3G system currently reaches 91.1% of the population in 138 cities and 1,392 municipalities.
