nTelos completes sale of PCS licences to T-Mobile US

17 Apr 2015

Virginia-based mobile operator nTelos Wireless has completed the sale of its PCS wireless spectrum licences covering its ‘Eastern Markets’ to T-Mobile US. The telco announced the spectrum sale on 2 December 2014 as part of a strategic refocus on its ‘Western Markets’, where it benefits from a strong operating performance, a favourable competitive position and its Strategic Network Alliance with Sprint Corp.

nTelos received approximately USD56.0 million in cash for the spectrum, which covers the operating markets of Hampton Roads/Norfolk and Richmond, Virginia. Under the agreement the company is leasing back a portion of the spectrum to continue serving Eastern Markets customers until it shuts down operations in those markets in November 2015.
