Movistar set to boost 4G coverage in Mendoza

Argentinean telecoms firm Movistar plans to invest ARS300 million (USD33.8 million) in the expansion of its telecoms networks in Mendoza. According to online journal LosAndes.com.ar, ARS250 million has been allocated towards the deployment of an additional 100 Long Term Evolution (LTE) base transceiver stations (BTS) in the region, augmenting the 50 currently in service. The remaining CAPEX will be ploughed into the expansion of Telefonica’s ADSL and fibre networks. Mendoza is the capital city of Mendoza Province; it is located in the northern-central part of the province, on the eastern side of the Andes.
