Chunghwa leads Taiwanese 4G market as subscriber numbers surpass two million

Taiwanese multi-service operator Chunghwa Telecom has reportedly surpassed two million 4G subscribers, a figure which is said to be the highest of all the nation’s cellcos. According to the Digitimes, rival operators Taiwan Mobile Company and Far EasTone currently have around 1.6 million and 1.4 million subscribers signed up to an Long Term Evolution (LTE)-based service, while Taiwan Star Cellular and Asia Pacific Telecom (APT) have between 250,000 and 300,000 combined. As such, there are an estimated, 5.4 million 4G subscribers in Taiwan across all those cellcos which have introduced LTE connectivity, representing around 18.4% of the country’s total mobile user base.
