Omantel fined OMR5m by the TRA

Oman’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has reportedly levied an OMR5 million (USD12.9 million) fine against the Sultanate’s incumbent telecoms operator, Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel). According to Reuters, while the telco has confirmed that it will appeal the financial penalty and take the matter to arbitration, it has not actually confirmed the reason for the regulator’s fine.
