DirecTV Colombia, the pay-TV provider turned fixed-wireless Long Term Evolution (LTE) operator, extended its 4G network to eleven new towns and cities in the first quarter of 2015, Comunidad Ola reports. DirecTV’s LTE network, which went live in July 2014, now covers 29 cities.
In other news, the same website has reported that Avantel has added a further five municipalities to its own 4G footprint, increasing its network coverage to 32 areas in the process. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database Avantel switched on its Nokia-built LTE network in 20 cities August 2014, following a USD250 million rollout.
