New Zealand telco and internet service provider (ISP) CallPlus has been acquired by Australian telecoms and utility firm M2 for NZD250 million (USD188 million) in a deal expected to be completed by the end of June this year. A report from the New Zealand Herald quotes CallPlus CEO Mark Callander as saying: ‘With M2’s wealth of experience and expertise, CallPlus is now in a perfect position to continue to grow as we focus on our drive of connecting one in four Kiwi homes.’ Formed in 1996, CallPlus is New Zealand’s third largest broadband ISP by subscribers, offering a full range of communication services in both business and residential markets through its ‘CallPlus’, ‘Slingshot’ and ‘Orcon’ brands. It will continue to operate as a self-contained business in New Zealand.
