Algerian telecoms operator Algerie Telecom (AT) has built three WIMAX stations in the cities of Ain Temouchent, El Amria and Hammam Bou Hadjar, located in the Ain Temouchent province. Agence Ecofin reports that the operator can now provide transmission speeds of up to 100Mbps to residential and business users within 25km range. The telco has also installed six fixed-wireless Long Term Evolution (LTE) base transceiver stations (BTS) in the wilaya, with two built in the cities of Ain Temouchent and Hammam Bou Hadjar, while four BTS were deployed in the municipalities of Sidi Ben Adda, Beni Saf, El Amria and El Maleh. Further, AT has installed multi-service access nodes (MSANs) in 40 cities (out of 44 planned), with plans to completely cover the province by the end of 2015. The equipment could deliver downlink speeds of 8Mbps to 20,582 lines.
