SFR unveils Reunion FTTH plans

9 Apr 2015

French-owned telco SFR has announced plans to roll out a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network to 230,000 homes and businesses in Reunion. The deployment is expected to take until 2017 and will cover 70% of the nation’s households. SFR added that it intends to embark on a recruitment and training programme for its technical staff, in an effort to help local skill development and job creation. The network will offer subscribers downlink speeds of up to 100Mbps and will enable SFR to bolster its video offerings, with the telco aiming to provide customers more than 200 TV channels in the future.
