Comcast to deliver symmetrical 2Gbps connectivity to Atlanta metro area

8 Apr 2015

US cable giant Comcast has announced it will offer a multi-Gigabit broadband service to more than 1.5 million residential customers in Atlanta starting next month. The company’s new ‘Gigabit Pro’ product is a symmetrical, 2Gbps service that will be delivered via a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) platform. Service will be offered in the main, across the Atlanta metro area and is expected to be among the fastest residential broadband connections anywhere in the country. Comcast claims that in recent years it has doubled the capacity of its network at least every 18 months and, with the introduction of Gigabit Pro, it has now increased speeds for its subscribers 14 times in the past 13 years.
